The international students visited the Red Wine town and had the opportunity to experience the BA Yu culture. Here is a preview of what took place there.
On the third of November, fifteen international students from Yangtze Normal University participated in the girls' high heels race which was held in Red Wine town. The top 20 of the winners were meant to be selected to participate in the semifinals being held the following day. The competition seemed fierce so the girls decided to warm up properly before the race to ensure a swift victory.
Semifinalist selection race
The international students wore colourful wigs and exaggerated makeup in order to intimidate their oponents as they prepared for the competition. Their apperance did a good job in bringing out their confidence and streangth. The first selection race began shorty after the warm up and it was very competetive and exciting to watch. The international students persevered and as a result Su Lan, Gao Xiaoxiao, Anna, Sancher, Maffina and Li Bei successfully advanced to the next level. As an award they all received an amusement park admission ticket and a bottle of red wine. The second race was a hundred meters high heels sprint which began at 11:10 a.m. This was really an exhibiton of speed and balance. After this tough race the international student who goes by the name Su Lan managed to qualify for the following day's semi-final with a 10th place ranking.
The host of the event invited the international students to the stage to take photos that left a memorable foreign impression. The international students all had a confident and happy character which made them win the enthusiastic attention of the audience.
Semi-final and final competition
The next day, six students from Yangtze Normal University International College arrived at the red wine town at 10.45am to participate in the high heels hundred meters semi-final. Su Lan from Cameroon was the semi-finalist and she was accompanied by her team mates: Gao Xiaoxiao; Anna; Sancher; Maffina and Li Bei. The top 15 sprinters from this competition were meant to be selected for the final race.
The hundred meters sprint began at 10:40 a.m and Su Lan showed how ready she was for the race by sprinting to track, another intimidation method which later on seemed not to have been effective. After all the races were completed although Su Lan used all her strength whilst struggling to run she only managed to secure the 17th place ranking missing the the finals by only two positions. Nevertheless she expressed how she had a lot of fun during the competition and how much being part of it was such an honor for her.
The international students were split into three groups and relay races was held afterwards. Whilst wearing the colorful headdresses and slender heels, they secured the tenth, 11th and the 14th ranking. The members of the groups that won the relay races each received a 200 RMB cash reward.
Finally the six girls sang and danced on the colorful runway during award ceremony with an exotic style and charm. This event was an example of sports without borders bringing great joy to the participants and spectators. This high heels competition held by the Mei Xin red wine town made the foreign students feel the BA Yu people's innovation and enthusiasm. At the same time, the outstanding performance of international students also left something for the red wine town to remember.
