Cultural practice experience activities

In order to promote and protect the underwater museum culture of White Crane Ridge in Fuling, the Three Gorges of China, and to promote foreign students’ further understanding of the history and culture of Yangtze River in Fuling, the International College of Yangtze Normal University, together with the White Crane Ridge Underwater Museum, opened a cultural practice of exploring the charm of the Yangtze River as the Mid-Autumn Festival approached.

           Visiting White Crane Ridge scenery and feeling traditional culture

 At 14:15 p.m., the faculty and students of the International College arrived at, the Underwater Museum Culture of White Crane Ridge in Fuling near the Yangtze River. The world's first ancient hydrological station is about to open a picture .

Teachers and students and White Crane Ridge staff followed the commentator and attentively listened to the story of White Crane Ridge.

From the origin of White Crane Ridge's name, to the internal structure of White Crane Ridge's hydrological project, and to the related historical legends of White Crane Ridge, the commentator showed the ancient production wisdom.

Walking to the underwater monument forest of "underwater wonders", the overseas students could not help but watch the inscriptions and writings of famous writers on the walls. These masterpieces, which were composed using great skills in calligraphy, literature, painting and stone carving, have been deeply engraved on the Yangtze River and are praised by the world.

 Teachers and students went under the surface of the water and crossed the river floor.

As one looked up the could see the white crane flying, experiencing the beautiful scenery which was made in A.D. 175.

when visiting the original site of the inscription in the corridor, the commentator pointed out to the students the exact location of the inscription, and said that in ancient times, the emergence of Pisces heralded a bumper harvest in the coming year.

Situated 137.2 meters below the river was the well-protected underwater stele forest that reproduces the culture of White Crane Ridge.

When we returned to the showroom we made rubbings, stamps, read books and played holographic 3D scenes. It was indeed an exciting and educational experience for foreign students to revisit and experience the cultural life of White Crane Ridge in the past.

 Gold harvest moon cake harvest joy

At 4:20 p.m. the White Crane Ridge Underwater Museum of Chongqing joined hands with the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Yangtze Normal University and Chongqing Master Food Company to carry out the moon cake experience titled "Stone Fish Comes out of Water and Becomes Fuller in Five Continents".

At the beginning of the moon cake experience, the technical director of Master Food Company , Ren Shibing, explained the method of making moon cakes to foreign students and teachers.

The director patiently taught the students and teaches by hand. When the foreign students completed the production of the Mid-Autumn Festival moon cakes they waited for the incense cakes to quietly come out. Huang Dejian, deputy curator of Baiheliang Underwater Museum, summarized the mooncake making process and by doing this, he compared it to the students' academic progress and high school life as being the harvest years.

After a while, the moon cakes came out one after another, and the fragrance filled the hall. Everyone gathered to taste the delicacies.

 Celebrate the harvest and dance with the river

   At 7 p.m., the teachers and students arrived at Yijiaba Literary and Art Festival Square in Fuling District to participate in the literary and Art Festival titlted "the first harvest song and dance of Chinese peasants in the year of stone fish flowing out of water".

Representatives of foreign students who participated in the performance were divided into three groups to demonstrate the harmonious beauty of "Dancing with the Great River" for Fuling audiences. Among them, Thai students dressed in Thai clothes arranged neatly and danced gracefully, conveying their good wishes and expectations. Poland students danced elegantly at a joyful pace which was an unforgettable spectacle.

Finally, foreign students from Africa, backed by the African grassland background, danced energetically showing their unique enthusiasm and confidence.

During the performance, there were more literarys and artistic programs showing the beauty of life and enthusiasm of the working people in China. Whether reciting, singing or dancing, they have left a deep impression.

 Whether we listen to the story of Bai He Liang, or stand in Bai He Liang underwater museum to visit Pisces Stone, or make moon cakes to experience the labor, or revel in the art and style of art performance, it encourages us to remember history and go forward bravely to create a bumper harvest.
